Liverpool Considering £8m Bid For Atletico Madrid & Portugal Winger Simao - Report

Liverpool are pondering a £8 million move for Atletico Madrid winger Simao this summer.

Reds boss Rafael Benitez witnessed an impressive performance by the Portuguese international in Atletico’s Europe League semi-final victory over Liverpool and the Spaniard is keen to add a winger to his squad.

The 30-year-old was also impressive in Atletico’s final triumph over Fulham but the La Liga club could start selling their stars to bring in some much needed cash, according to the Daily Star.

Simao has performed well in Spain the last three seasons and could provide Liverpool with the experience to help climb their way back into the top four of thePremier League.

With only 12 months left on his current Atletico contract, Simao acknowledged that he would like to play in the Premier League.

“Nobody has spoken with me in the last days about this subject,” Simao said.

“I only say that some people in Madrid have suggested that Atletico are preparing my sale, but I don’t know too much.

‘’I have always been interested in playing in the Premier League, but my head is in the World Cup and I have a deal with Atletico.”

Simao has scored 21 goals in 79 international appearances for Portugal, who will have to fight for a spot in the knockout stage from the ‘Group of Death’ as they will be matched against Brazil, Ivory Coast and North Korea at this summer’s World Cup.
